From a Melbourne lane to the front page of Reddit.

So. What's all this then?
I was wandering around the good city of Melbourne with Mitch (who, incidentally, has become somewhat of a posterboy for our meme project) when suddenly we come across this great ad. To be honest, I'd never really seen anything like it - in RL anyway. So we took pictures on the best thing we had at our disposal, a trusty iPhone.

Mitch - or Mittz, as he's known on Reddit - went home that night and posted it up. You may ask why I didn't use my own account to do it. Plain and simple, Mitch spends much more time and effort on Reddit. I don't comment much at all, and I've never submitted anything. The likelihood of our picture getting any sort of attention and responses is higher with Mitch's account, which has been in existence for quite a bit longer than mine.

Anyway, the next day Mitch proudly informed me that our picture had made it to the front page. Hooray!!

I don't actually have the screenshot, but when he sends it I'll post it up. That was three days ago. What's worth noting about the comments that we received is that there was a flurry of activity during those three days, then nothing. After we were on the front page, we disappeared, but remained on the "pictures" front page. Today, we're not even there anymore. Meaning, anyone that would want to find our picture would actually have to scroll and search for it.

So what does that mean? Your chances of getting a response is heightened tenfold by having a presence of the front page. Obvious, really.

What about the comments?

The comments we received were a mixed bag. Some didn't believe it was an ad, thought we'd made it ourselves, which then resulted in comments defending our honour. That was a little exciting. An amusing amount of comments were references to the Milford Academy of Arrested Development (where boys are neither seen nor heard). And - as we expected - there were a few references to pedo bear...lol.

BUT perhaps the most exciting response we got was this: apparently there's been a bunch of these ads around the place (Melbourne definitely at least). Once the dolls are removed, the text underneath read: "thank you for noticing me". Isn't that cool?
